Land Ownership Laws
Ownership is the key word when you are in
consideration of Costa Rica real estate. You actually own titled
property and have the same rights as a Costa Rican citizen. Check the
World Fact book at:
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/cs.html
In many countries, you must actually be a
citizen or partnered with a citizen to even lease property. Such is the
case in Mexico where land is leased for a 99-year term or less in some
circumstances. In fact, you run less risk in Costa Rica than in the
United States of having your land obstructed by eminent domain.
Look at the statistics; several hundred
thousand US citizens either live as permanent residents or spend part of
the calendar year in Costa Rica. Well over one-million tourists visit
Costa Rica each year and that is growing at 15+ percent each year.
Activities
From one of Central America's best surf
breaks only minutes to the north of the property, world class angling
with billfish releases common in the double digits to the best eco
trekking in the world, Costa Rica is the world's best outdoor
play-ground, bar-none.
Here are some local links you might want to
check out when you are in the area. I was first attracted by the world
class fishing and easy accessibility but I also like hiking and want to
try surfing. Drop me an email and I can help you put together a
trip. You can see the property and have lots of fun doing all types of
things in the local area that include fishing, surfing, sea kayaking,
zip-lining, bird watching, horseback riding, hiking, or visit one of the
many national parks.
